Client: The Charleston Trust
Architect: Jamie Fobert Architects
Construction Cost: £3.3 million
The works comprised the repair and alterations of the existing Threshing and Hay barns for use as Café, exhibition and performance purposes and the construction of a new Gallery, archive store and toilet facilities with associated landscaping works to both areas of the site at Charleston Barns, Lewes.
These works are part of a greater scheme which is partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. There was an earlier phase which comprised the enabling works and there are also further phases planned which include alterations to the admin building and the construction of a new granary building to be used for educational purposes. The current phase of works was completed in Summer 2018.
We have provided full QS services on all phases to date including preparing Bills of Quantities. Competitive tenders were sought for all tender packages to date. The works were jointly funded by Charleston Trust & Heritage Lottery Fund.
